Patient Stories

Fifteen Years of Heel Pain, One Simple Fix

At the end of a full clinic day, one patient's story stayed with us. It's a story we hear more often than you'd think, and one we're sharing because it ends the way we wish every story did.

Watch Dr. Haro tell this story in his own words.

It was the end of the day when she walked in: a young, active woman who had been living with heel pain since she was a child.

She told me she had suffered with it for more than fifteen years. When she was young, she saw other doctors, and every one of them told her the same thing: they're just growing pains.

But she's an adult now. She's fully grown, and the pain is still there. She wants to exercise. She wants to run marathons. And this heel pain has been holding her back every step of the way.

We examined her, and the answer became clear: she is suffering from foot pronation, or flat feet, and I believe that is the true cause of her pain.

"The treatment is very simple. We fit her for a custom foot orthotic, put her in her sneaker, and I'm confident she'll be running again."
Dr. Haro, on his patient's treatment plan

And that's the part I want you to hear: sometimes the answer really is simple. A custom foot orthotic, fitted properly and worn in her sneaker, supports the arch, corrects the pronation, and takes the strain off the heel, so she can pursue her passion of running and exercising again.

What this story means for you

If you suffer from heel pain, especially if you've suffered with it for a long time, please don't let anyone tell you it's "just growing pains" or "just something you live with." Let me take a look, or have a podiatrist take a look.

You do not have to keep suffering. Sometimes the solution is as simple as a custom orthotic.
